Request TSA

All foreign citizens who intend to travel to Cape Verde must make the mandatory payment of the Airport Security Fee (TSA).

What is TSA?

The TSA is a mandatory contribution that covers the costs of border and airport security services, including human resources, equipment and information systems. Its purpose is to ensure the prevention of illegal acts and strengthen the security of civil aviation in Cape Verde.

Who pays the TSA?

The TSA is charged to each passenger who disembarks at Cape Verdean airports and airfields, on domestic or international flights, except for passengers who are entitled to the exemption.

Who is exempt from payment?

The following are exempt from paying the TSA:

  • holders of Cape Verdean passports on international flights;
  • Cape Verdean nationals, as well as their spouses and descendants, on international flights, upon presentation of a passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate or other document stating the circumstance of having been born, married or the child of a father or mother born in Cape Verde;
  • children under two years of age;
  • passengers on official missions, in aircraft at the service of the State of Cape Verde or a foreign State, on a reciprocal basis;
  • passengers of aircraft that land for technical, meteorological or force majeure reasons, duly proven;
  • passengers in transit at national airports.

When to pay the TSA? What is the value?

TSA payment is due whenever the passenger arrives at a national airport or airfield. The values are as follows:
• Domestic flights (inter-island): 150$00
• International flights: 3.400$00;

How to make the TSA payment?

 • If you are traveling between islands, the TSA is paid when you purchase the ticket.
 • If you are coming from abroad, you must pay the TSA online, at platform for pre-registration of foreign passengers.

Do Cape Verdean emigrants pay TSA?

No. Cape Verdean emigrants are exempt from paying the TSA, as long as they present a document proving their Cape Verdean nationality.
Even if traveling with a foreign passport, Cape Verdean nationals and nationals do not pay the TSA and do not need to pre-register online.

Validity of TSA Pre-Registration and Payment

If the passenger does not travel on the scheduled date, the pre-registration and payment of the TSA and/or tourist visa remain valid for 1 year from the date of their completion.
If the trip takes place within this period, it is sufficient to present proof of pre-registration at the Border post upon arrival in Cape Verde. It is not necessary to repeat the process.
