Visas
What are the types of entry visas in Cape Verde?
- Citizens of countries with which Cape Verde has visa suppression agreements. You can consult here the list of countries in which citizens are exempt from visas to enter Cape Verdean territory or that can apply for visas upon entry.
- Foreigners qualified with a valid residence permit;
- Citizens of countries that are exempt from transit, official, diplomatic or courtesy visas, and tourist visas, by Resolution of the Council of Ministers, for short-term periods, up to a maximum of 30 (thirty) days, without prejudice to compliance with the other requirements provided for in article 0 6 of the aforementioned Law;
- Nationals of Cape Verde who have acquired foreign nationality, as well as their spouses and descendants, upon presentation of a passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate or other document stating the circumstance of having been born, married, or the child of a father or mother born in Cape Verde
- Honorary consuls and consular agents of Cape Verde of foreign nationality;
- Foreigners holders:
- identity card of an employee or agent of a foreign mission or international organization, issued by the government department responsible for the area of foreign affairs;
- of travel tickets for refugees.
Passport
I have dual nationality (Cape Verdean and foreign) I wanted to deal with the Cape Verdean passport. How to proceed?
You must go to a consular post with an identification document (passport/ID/CNI). It costs 60 euros.
How long does it take to wait for a passport application?

I am traveling with my baby to Cape Verde, does he need the passport?
All travelers must have their own passport.
National Identification Card (CNI)
Is it mandatory to have a CNI?
Yes. All institutions must promote the CNI to Cape Verdean citizens living abroad and it is mandatory to present the CNI at the time of application for any consular service
Will the National Identification Card (CNI) replace the Identity Card?
Yes, it is a document with the capacity to store, through the embedded Chip, the data of its holder, and is also capable of processing some identification, authentication and signature transactions by digital means. For more information, see the SNIAC website.
