Who can apply for the death certificate and what is needed
The death certificate can be requested by any citizen and requires the following:
- Identification details of the deceased person
- Information about the death
- Applicant's details
Cost of the death certificate
The cost of the death certificate varies depending on where the request is made. The amounts for requests made in Cabo Verde differ from those applicable to requests made abroad.

The multilingual certificate is issued in the formats approved by the International Convention on the Issue of Multilingual Extracts from Civil Status Records.
How to obtain a death certificate
You can request the death certificate on the portal or in the GOV.CV app. Click "Apply online" to start and follow these steps:
Choose the type of request
Normal – Multilingual
Fill in the details of the deceased
Provide the details of the deceased person and the death information
Finalize the request
Check and, if necessary, change the details before finalizing the request
Make the payment
Pay simply and securely using digital means
Track your request
Track the status of your death certificate request in the "My requests" area, available on the portal or in the GOV.CV app.
