It is normally required by public and private entities, especially when residing abroad or needing to update records for pensions and notarial acts.

How to apply for the certificate of life and identity online
You can request the certificate of life and identity on the GOV.CV website or mobile app. Click on "Apply online" to get started, and follow these steps:
Enter the identification details
Provide your full name, date of birth and other required details
Indicate your place of birth
Select the country and place of birth
Provide your identity document
Use a valid identification document
Enter additional information
Select the country for the certificate
Finalize the request
Check that all the details are correct before finalizing the request
After finalizing the request, you must complete identity verification. Click “Awaiting identity verification” and follow the instructions on the screen. This step is required to process your request.
Once approved, the certificate is available in digital format (PDF), ready for download and printing.

Check the status of your request under "My requests" on the GOV.CV website or mobile app.
