Who can apply
The Cape Verdean passport can be requested by:
- Cape Verdean citizens residing or not in Cabo Verde
- Legal representatives of minors and incapacitated persons
If the request is for a minor, an authorization signed by one of the parents or the legal guardian must be attached. During identity confirmation, in person or by video conference, the minor must be accompanied by their guardian.

To apply for the Cape Verdean passport you need:
- Valid identification document (CNI or identity card)
- Passport authorization for a minor (when applicable)
- Declaration of loss, theft or misplacement (when applicable)
Cost and timeframe of the passport
The cost of the passport varies depending on the place of issuance (Cabo Verde or abroad), the type of request and the delivery method.
Passports issued in Cabo Verde must be collected at the service desk.
For Cape Verdean passports issued abroad, the fee applies in local currency, plus an additional cost of €10 to €30 for delivery by mail, according to the price list of the relevant embassy or consular post.

How to apply for the passport online
You can request the Cape Verdean passport in your own name or on behalf of a person for whom you are legally responsible on the portal or in the GOV.CV mobile app.
During the process, you must confirm your identity through a video conference with a staff member.
If the request is made through the mobile app, you must submit your biometric data (photograph and signature) before the video conference.
If using the mobile app, click "Apply online" and follow these steps:

Check and, if necessary, change the details before finalizing the request
Make the payment
Pay simply and securely using digital means
- After making the payment, you must schedule a video conference so that staff can verify your identity.
- Click "Schedule video conference" to choose the day and time that suit you best. This step is mandatory to complete the request.

Track the status of your passport request in the "My requests" area, available on the portal or in the GOV.CV app.
