The Cabo Verdean passport is a travel document that allows citizens to travel abroad and prove their identity. Generally, the Cabo Verdean electronic passport is valid for 5 years. For children under 5, it is valid for 2 years.

Who can apply 

The Cabo Verdean passport can be requested by:

• Cabo Verdean citizens residing or not in Cabo Verde  
• Legal representatives of minors and incapacitated persons 

If the application is for a minor, an authorization signed by a parent or legal guardian must be attached. During identity verification, the minor must be accompanied by the responsible adult.

To apply for a Cabo Verdean passport, you need:

• Valid identity document (CNI or identity card)
• Passport authorization for a minor (when applicable)  
• Declaration of loss, theft or misplacement (when applicable)

Cost and processing time 

Passport costs vary depending on the place of issuance (Cabo Verde or abroad), the type of application, and the delivery method.

Passports issued in Cabo Verde must be collected at the service desk.

For Cabo Verdean passports issued abroad, the fee is charged in local currency, plus an additional EUR 10-30 delivery fee by mail, according to the price list of the relevant embassy or consular post.
