The consent instrument is an official document by which a person authorizes certain legal actions or decisions. There are several types of consent instruments related to acknowledgment of paternity/maternity, travel, and property acquisition:

Acceptance and delegation of parental authority:
With this instrument, a person temporarily grants or accepts parental authority related to the welfare and education of the child.

Acceptance of acknowledgment of paternity/maternity for adults and minors:
This is the instrument by which a person accepts being recognized as a son or daughter in the acknowledgment act.

Consent instrument for sale and ratification:
Documents authorizing a third party to sell a property and confirming the approval.

Travel consent instrument:
Consent for the travel of a minor child in the care of a trusted person.
Who can apply and what is needed
Any Cape Verdean citizen can create the consent instrument through the GOV.CV portal. To apply you need:

Personal details and document of the applicant

Personal details of the grantor (the person granting authority)
Cost and timeframe of the consent instrument
The cost of the consent instrument varies depending on where the request is made. The amounts for requests made in Cabo Verde differ from those applicable to requests made abroad.

How to apply for the consent instrument online
You can apply for the consent instrument on the portal or in the GOV.CV app. Click "Apply online" to start and follow these steps:
Indicate who the request is for
For yourself - For another person
Fill in the applicant's identification details
Enter first name, last name and other required details
Indicate the place of birth
Select the country and place of birth
Provide the identification document
Enter the details of a valid document
Choose the type of consent
Select the type of power of attorney and customize the text
Fill in the grantor's details
You can remove this field if not applicable
Finalize the request
Check and, if necessary, change the details before finalizing the request.
Make the payment
Pay simply and securely using digital means
Track your request
Track the status of your consent instrument request in the "My requests" area available on the portal or in the GOV.CV app.
