The marriage transcription allows the registration in Cabo Verde of a marriage that took place abroad. This means that the marriage of Cape Verdean citizens will have legal validity and that the rights and duties of the spouses will be recognized within the national territory.
Who can request the marriage transcription
The marriage transcription can be requested by Cape Verdean citizens residing in the country or in the diaspora. Before requesting the transcription, have this information ready:

How to apply for the marriage transcription online
You can request the marriage transcription on the portal or in the GOV.CV app. Click "Apply online" to start and follow these steps:

Fill in the applicant's identification details
Enter first name, last name and other required details
Provide the identification document
Enter the type, number and date of the document
Indicate the place of birth
Select the country and place of birth
Enter the marriage details
Complete the details of the applicant and the marriage
Fill in the spouse's identification details
Provide the spouse's biographical details, place of birth and document
Attach the documents
Always attach documents that are currently valid
Finalize the request
Check and, if necessary, change the details before finalizing the request.
