Divorce Transcript

Cape Verdean citizens whose divorce has been decreed by foreign entities must request its transcription, so that the registration can be officially registered in Cape Verde. The transcription request can be made on the Gov.cv portal.

If the divorce has been decided by a foreign court in a country without a legal agreement with Cape Verde, the citizen must appoint a lawyer to start the process of confirming the sentence with the Cape Verdean court. In these cases, the certificates indicated below must be apostilled.

1. Required Documents:
   • Certificate of final divorce decree;
   • Notice of Request for Transcription of Divorce signed by the interested party;
   • Birth certificate of the foreign spouse with divorce endorsement (if applicable);
   • Identification document.
2. Deadline:

   The process can take between 15 to 20 business days.
