The acknowledgment of paternity/maternity transcription allows the registration, in Cabo Verde, of the voluntary acknowledgment of a child carried out abroad. In this way, the acknowledgment act is officially recognized in the country, with all associated rights.
Who can apply and what is needed
The acknowledgment transcription can be requested by Cape Verdean citizens residing in the country or in the diaspora.
It is necessary to prepare the following documents:

Foreign birth certificate of the acknowledged child

The cost of the acknowledgment transcription varies depending on where the request is made. The amounts for requests made in Cabo Verde differ from those applicable to requests made abroad.

How to apply for the acknowledgment transcription online
You can request the acknowledgment transcription on the portal or in the GOV.CV app. Click "Apply online" to start and follow these steps:
Indicate who the request is for
For yourself – For another person
Fill in the applicant's identification details
Enter first name, last name and other required details
Provide the identification document
Provide the details of a valid document
Indicate the place of birth
Select the country and place of birth
Fill in the acknowledged child's details
Provide the biographical details, place of birth and document of the acknowledged child
Fill in the acknowledgment details
Select the type of declarant and acknowledging parent, the date and time
Attach the documents
Always attach documents that are currently valid
Finalize the request
Check and, if necessary, change the details before finalizing the request.
